THAT WE MAY SERVE HIM . . .

Acolytes: Serve as crucifers, torchbearers, banner bearers, candle lighters/extinguishers. Trained in spring, with outgoing Acolytes. The 7th graders begin in May and continue through 8th grade (April).

Altar Guild:
Care of the chancel, furnishings, communion ware/linens, acolyte vestments; create & maintain climate of meaningful worship. Meets the 1st Monday in November and February at 6:30 P.M.

Cable TV Committee:
Record Sunday Services to air on cable TV 14 on Sunday 11:00 am and Wednesday, 10:00 am and 8:00 p.m.
 

Caring Visitation Fellowship: Visitation monthly of Shut-ins or other members or non-members that need special concern and caring. Friendly visits, letting others know they are loved and cared for by their Lord Jesus and members of their church family. Meet quarterly. 

Children’s Worship Action Team: Provides childcare during the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Worship services. Meets weekly.

Crossing Hearts Network: A network of individuals helping people in need. For more information volunteering or needing assistance. 

Envelope Committee: Enjoying in fellowship with each other, we count offerings on Monday mornings.

Fellowship Action Team: This group works to insure the proper planning and coordination of larger gatherings of the congregation that will encourage and promote fellowship and goodwill among the members and community.

Ladies Aid: Ladies Aid was organized here at St. John on Trinity Sunday, 1894. The object of our Ladies Aid is to promote the Kingdom of God, to perform deeds of love, serve for funerals, to help our church and school and mission work. We serve for funerals in January, February, July and August. Our meetings are the 1st Thursday each month at 2:15 p.m.; no meeting in January, July, or August.

Ladies Evening Guild: Promote work at church and school. Meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.; no meetings in January, June, July and August.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML):  St. John’s LWML meets every other month at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All women of the congregation are encouraged to join us.

LWML Quilting Circle:  Make quilts for the needy; fellowship. Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in church basement.  Anyone interested is welcome to join us.

Lamplighters: The purpose of the Lamplighters is to plan and carry out an evangelism and social ministry program to the community. Activities include calls on persons known to have moved to the community recently, inquiring about their church affiliation and telling them about the many opportunities for worship and service at St. John. They organize outreach to the community by setting up booths at the County Fair and the Merchant’s Festival.  They assist in serving the needy by referring them to Crossing Hearts Network, the food pantry or other community social service groups.  All evangelism-minded members of St. John are invited to attend monthly meetings held on the 4th Thursday of each month

Newsletter Assembly:  This group meets toward the end of each month in the fellowship hall to assemble the church newsletter.  We enjoy an hour or two of fellowship while folding, taping and applying labels.

Prayer Group:  Telephone prayer chain.  Bring your concerns, needs, or thanksgiving to the Lord in prayer. 

Revelations: Church Newsletter

Thrivent Financial:  Membership open to all Lutherans. Financial needs planning services, education funding options, retirement planning, mutual funds, investment brokerage products, insurance, annuities, banking and trust products and services and educational/informational benefits available.  Meetings, picnics and other family oriented activities for Thrivent members and their families.  Fund raisers and community/not-for-profit organizational projects as needed.  Thrivent will match dollars you donate to St. John Lutheran School

Transportation Committee:  Transportation for those who have no transportation to the store, doctor, etc.

Usher’s Club:  Assist and promote worship of God; prepare appropriate setting for worship; maintain order; act as host for God; evangelism; promote public relations.
